Nanki Katsuo Ume (Pickled Plum) 3.5oz

Ume is eaten as a pickle with rice or rice porridge or in an onigiri (rice ball). Also as a side dish with a Japanese meal. It is also called Umeboshi. Ume are dried and pickled in salt, after which they are colored red by the leaves of shiso. Umeboshi look like little wrinkled pink-red olives and taste salty and sour.
